"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
-Carl Rogers
Psychotherapy Services
At the Center for Compassionate Behavior Change, we provide evidence-based, scientifically supported individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, emerging adults and adults facing mental health challenges or otherwise seeking to enhance their overall well-being. We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness/meditation, including Internal Family Systems (IFS). While practical coping skills are essential for managing difficult emotions and navigating challenges, we recognize deeper self-awareness is crucial for implementing and sustaining these new skills. As such, our approach strikes a delicate balance between skills-based interventions and insight development. Therapy at CCBC almost always includes weekly home practice to reinforce skills and promote progress between appointments. Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length and occur once or twice per week, depending on client need. Sessions are either virtual or in-person (185 Devonshire Street in downtown Boston).

Healthy Lifestyle
We offer services for individuals looking to make healthy lifestyle changes and possibly lose weight to improve their health and overall quality of life. We specialize in the application of behavioral techniques to improve habits for working with individuals living with obesity and other medical conditions. Dr. Guarecuco also provides evaluations for medically monitored weight loss, including GLP-1 use and bariatric surgery.

Eating Disorders
CCBC offers treatment for individuals struggling with eating disorders and poor body image. We draw from CBT-Enhanced for eating disorders, Family Based Treatment (FBT), and Integrative Modalities Therapy (IMT) to treat anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, and other forms of disordered eating. Treatment is collaborative and may involve working with a dietician or physician.

OCD
We offer exposure and response prevention (ERP) treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Treatment may include both imaginal and in vivo exposures and sessions may occur outside the office. At the heart of OCD is a struggle with uncertainty, so treatment will also include elements of mindfulness and acceptance. We also offer treatment for related conditions, including hair pulling, skin picking, tics, and hoarding.

ADHD/EF Skills
We offer treatment for attention, organization, planning, and other executive functioning concerns. Treatment modalities includes traditional CBT, with particular emphasis on executive functioning skills training. Treatment may also include aspects of ancillary work on related problems, such as anxiety and self-esteem, that may be have developed in response to executive functioning difficulties.
